i fail to see why people such as alice in wonderland, bane and others, are regularly singled out as tolls.

demands are repeatedly made that they are shunned and thrown off the forum; while people like perry, who rant on with pages of controversial drivel, are considered acceptable?.

i personaly don't view any of them as trolls, just people who feel a need to stand up for what they believe.

Then there are the people who deliberately bait wounded or emotionally prone people just to screw with them. IMO those are the Trolls.

I guess JWs viewing this forum are aware that it is hurting their organization, so they too are emotionally prone people. The fact that they take the trouble to hit back is proof of that. So it is to be expected.

I think about issues regarding emotional communication often...

You hit on the difficulty here. Sometimes very strong emotions are involved, on both sides. When this happens it can be difficult to respond in a rational and effective way. Our normal calm self can get caught up in a trap.

I posted "Why are you here, Bane", but I think I can get the Gladiator's point.

Thank you dgp. It was a good thread. I did post on it and attempted to explain to Bane that most JWs had been encouraged to apostatize from other religions, so the JW movement is made up of apostates. Naturaly he did not reply.

Fair point. The thing is that the JWs that post here are damaged people themselves, they just don't know it!

In the early years on this forum, when I posed under my real name, on occasions I had abuse hurled at me by JWs who later left and completely changed their tune.

Due to their regulated mental process JWs are usually brittle minded people. Sometimes they can snap and change suddenly, once the penny drops, or should I say the cent? It is worth remembering that many genuine JWs quietly read what is posted here.

Well, that depends what we are trying to achieve. Satisfying as it is to try and hoist JWs on their own petard, chasing them off this forum will not achieve that. It just robs us of the the opportunity to help them see things from a different perspective.

Planting though provoking seeds in their mind may help to achieve a longer term and ultimately more satisfying result?

I know many of you have tried this while others demand they are banished. Being here in the first place is a compromise to them. They have proved the are prepared to break the rules of the Bethel Boppers. The longer they stay the more they can gain a better understanding of why we have left. They may not at first admit to us or themselves that they may be wrong. This forum of Simon's started out as a pro JW site!

These are interesting comments. Because many of us are upset by being shunned by our loved ones, it is natural to feel aggrieved by JWs being hypocritical by debating here. But perhaps we need to get past that anomaly and use this as an opportunity to help them see that we are not the miscreants that they assume us to be?

I can see that the appearance of JWs being defensive on sensitive topics where people are expressing their hurt is not seen as helpful. They are in many cases in denial. They seek to defend something that is still of great value to them.

We too were once brainwashed and unable to see that we were wrong.

What I wonder is, whether we are handling them in the most appropriate way?

Although I don't share their viewpoint, I thought the idea of this site was to debate different mindsets?

I am puzzled how such judgement is made? Please educate me.

I finally had to accept that I didn't have any brilliant thoughts.
